Yerba Buena Alliance Neighborhood Meeting

Join the Yerba Buena Alliance for the first neighborhood meeting of 2012 at the San Francisco Planning & Urban Research Association (SPUR) for last chance to see their Reclaim Market Street exhibit.  The exhibition highlights the many ways in which cities, nationally and internationally, are engaged in reimagining their public spaces through experimental urban planning. 


Keeping a focus on Market Street, we will also hear from the Central Market Community Benefit District and their Executive Director Daniel Hurtado, to hear what efforts are currently under way.

Finally, we will be joined by Jordan Klein from the Office of Economic & Workforce Development about the Central Market Street Partnership; a public-private initiative to revitalize San Francisco’s Central Market district (roughly, Market Street between 5th Street and Van Ness Avenue). The premise of the Central Market Partnership holds that the revitalization of a neighborhood such as Central Market – a neighborhood with immense opportunities but also a host of challenges – requires public intervention but also the resources, creativity and flexibility of private sector actors: business owners, property owners, nonprofit organizations, artists, and others.
